Keystone Pallet & Recycling is small wooden pallet manufacturing and recycling business employing seven people. Keystone keeps wooden pallets from being thrown into the landfill by collecting used and damaged wooden pallets and then repairing and reselling them as refurbished. Keystone Pallet has prevented more than 836 tons of wood waste from being disposed of in local landfills since the company launched in 2004, saving energy and preventing air pollution emissions in the process. Kendall Auto Parts is an automotive and truck recycling facility that has made it its mission to reduce pollution to zero; to reduce, recycle and reuse everything; and to reduce and conserve energy and water. The property was a former brownfield site valued at $96,100. At every opportunity this business looked for and succeeded in recovering, recycling, reusing or improving the capital plant and operations. Land Conservancy of Adams County
In December 2001, DEP provided an $850,000 Community Environmental Project Grant to the Adams County Conservation District to create the Marsh Creek Watershed Protection Project. The Southeastern Pennsylvania Regional Household Hazardous Waste Program
Household hazardous waste coordinators from Southeastern Pennsylvania first met in 1997. The individual counties signed a three-year intergovernmental agreement allowing residents from one county to participate in another county's collection event. In 2006, this agreement was extended for an additional three years through 2009. As a result, in 2006-2007, residents in the five-county region had 48 opportunities to dispose of hazardous waste responsibly. More...
